Show recap for 1-27-2012

Hey Everybody!

Well I have to say it was a lot of fun being back on the air. I shouldn't need anyone to sub for me for a long time unless something crazy does in fact come up again. This past week's show was really awesome. First off I would like to say it's great that the website has received so much response and praise from all of you metal fans out there. I have never had this big of a reception to this show in the 14 years I have hosted it. Although I do admit I never really promoted it that much on the internet until 2008. I have not only received positive feedback from you the listener but many of the bands I have featured and will be featuring on the show really dig the site, even promoters and labels have sent me numerous messages with their compliments and are really pushing for me to promote their stuff. All I can say is that I thank all of you out there who gave me feedback on what you wanted to see on the website. Believe me it helped greatly and you the metal fan and dedicated listener to the show cannot be thanked enough for helping keep metal music alive and for supporting the show. As you know I do this for the love of the music and do not get paid for it so just a simple thank you has gone a long way!

This past week's Interview with Communic:

Wow just WOW!!! I received a great reaction from all of you! First of all I never expected a lot of US fans to email me about how much they love Communic and have followed them for years. This was a suprise to me because I didn't think they had a huge fanbase over here. However I received a LOT of email from people in the US most of which are huge Communic fans. I did have email from people who had only heard the band for the first time. This was really great to see and a big reason why I do this show, to introduce bands to people that they may not have actually heard of.

Communic is a band that has put out 4 really good albums. As far as The Bottom Deep goes, this is a record that had a big impact on me from the lyrical side of the album. There are a lot of things on here that I can totally relate to in real life. Talking to Oddleif about the lyrics was especially fun for me since he put into perspective just what this album is all about. It's amazing just how much differently you listen to a record after talking to the person who created it. When they go in depth about the meanings behind the songs it gives you a whole new viewpoint on it. I can say that all week I listened to this record with a totally new perspective thanks to Oddleif going into details with me about the lyrics.

Another thing about this album is that Oddleif's vocal performance is the best I have heard from him. He talked about stripping down the vocals a bit when he recorded this album and in a way I think it was a good idea for this record. His vocals sound really powerful to me and the way he sings many of these songs is amazing to me. All in all a really good album by a really good metal band. I hope to have Oddleif on the show sometime down the road. He was a fun person to talk to and I hope you all enjoyed the interview. You can check out Communic's official website at http://www.communic.org and also check out the interview with myself and Oddleif just in case you happened to miss the show.....listen to it by <<clicking here>>

I definitely recommend that you all check out Communic. If you like dark euro power metal than look no further than these guys. Their albums are well written, well produced and they sound awesome! A truly remarkable band!

This past week's show

As far as the rest of the show goes. I received a lot of positive responses to the new Unisonic track that I played to start off the show! I mean how can you not like a lineup with Kai and Kiske together again. That song is fresh and not generic euro metal. I can't wait to hear the full album as I think it's going to sound amazing! Just the two songs alone in my book are really great. I feel this could be one of the best albums of the year. I also received a lot of great feedback about the new Pharaoh and Lanfear songs I played on the show tonight. I will tell all of you that the new Pharaoh is amazing as is the new Lanfear album. Both of these albums are by far the best albums these bands have ever put out.

So far I am liking a lot of the new albums which have come out this year. Nightwish's "Imaginarium", and Primal Fear "Unbreakable" are two other albums I am really liking so far for 2012.

Keep the emails coming and really check out the Facebook page as I post a lot of really good updates on there about the show and I will post links to some really good new stuff coming out plus you can interact with me. Also spread the word and send people to the Facebook page which is at http://www.facebook.com/themetalcommand

Status of the Metal Mailbag

I have received a LOT of email for the Metal Mailbag which I plan on posting sometime this week. I have received a lot of questions from listeners pertaining to the metal scene, what new albums I like so far and misc stuff such as what equipment I use. I can say I am answering all of your questions about as fast as humanly possible however I will tell you that the Mailbag will be a once a month thing, MAYBE twice a month if I can get to it. It all depends on the questions being asked. I can assure you that this is something I will be doing at least every month and I will answer your questions to the best of my ability!

Well that's about it for this recap, look for a blog or two next week sometime and don't forget to check out next week's show with Lanfear guitarist Markus Ullrich!
